Oh Boy, It’s Soy!

Soy packs a powerful punch full of protein, fiber, omega 3 fatty acids, calcium, zinc, magnesium and iron. One of soy’s most notable qualities is that it is the only planted-based protein with all the essential amino acids (the amino acids that your body cannot make on its own). Soy also contains isoflavones, which have antioxidant properties, and it may help lower LDL (bad) cholesterol.
If you’re having troubles fitting soy into your diet, try something new… like tofu!
• Stir tofu into mixed veggies
• Cube and use in place of beef in stew or casseroles
• Crumble and use as ground beef
• Mix into spaghetti sauce
Or, try …
½ cup edamame
½ cup canned soybeans
½ cup dry roasted soybeans
1 cup soymilk, soy cheese, or soy yogurt
